DIEP Art

Work made or written by artists during and about their pregnancy or early years of parenthood uniquely documents a period in adult life that is the most intensely felt and yet the least likely to be accurately captured by long-term memory.

The impact of this work on parents (to be) who have suffered a greater or lesser degree of physical or emotional trauma, and on those professionals responsible for their well-being, is often profound and lasting.

This is why DIEP:

(1) develops and delivers a rolling programme of digital exhibitions, festivals, screenings and other events which are all aimed at presenting and promoting outstanding autobiographical works of visual, performance, literary, film and digital art about 21st century pregnancy, birth and new parenthood experiences to global audiences;

(2) puts the most powerful of these works of art at the centre of all its research and education initiatives.
